Client-Side Limitations
Backlink data requires access to search engine indices or third-party APIs (Ahrefs, Moz, SEMrush). This tool provides educational content about backlink metrics and a manual tracker for recording and analyzing your backlink research.
A search engine ranking score that predicts how likely a website is to rank in search results. Higher DA means more potential ranking power.
Tip: A backlink from a DA 60+ site is very valuable. Focus on earning links from DA 30+ sites at minimum.
Similar to DA but measures the ranking strength of a specific page rather than the entire domain.
Tip: PA is more specific than DA. A high-PA page linking to you passes more value than a low-PA page on a high-DA domain.
Shows the strength of a website's backlink profile compared to others. Uses a logarithmic scale.
Tip: DR focuses specifically on backlink strength, while DA considers additional factors.
Measures the quality of links pointing to a URL based on how trustworthy the linking sites are.
Tip: High TF with low Citation Flow can indicate a very authoritative niche site.
Measures the link equity or 'power' a URL carries based on how many sites link to it.
Tip: The TF/CF ratio is important. A ratio close to 1 suggests high-quality links.
Passes link equity (PageRank) to the linked page. The default link type and most valuable for SEO.
textTells search engines not to pass link equity. Still provides traffic and brand awareness.
textIndicates the link was placed by users (comments, forums). Google treats these as hints.
textMarks paid or sponsored links. Required by Google's guidelines for any compensated links.
textFocus on quality over quantity. One link from a DA 70 site is worth more than 100 links from DA 10 sites.
Build links naturally over time. A sudden spike in backlinks can trigger spam filters.
Diversify your anchor text profile. Avoid over-optimizing with exact-match keywords.
Earn links from relevant, topically-related websites in your industry.
Monitor for toxic backlinks and disavow them through Google Search Console.
